October is the real intake, not January or May

All eleven courses start in October. Six also start in January and only two run in May, so if you are planning around a January or spring arrival, that is a much shorter list than the campus advertises.

One course takes a degree in any subject

Management MSc:

Students are required to have a 2:2 honours degree, or equivalent, in any discipline.
That course page

Every fee, length and start month above was read off that course’s own page on 29 August 2026. All eleven are the same price, so the column exists to confirm that rather than to compare.

Fees by intake

Nothing moves this fee. Not the subject, not the start date. What does change what you pay in total is whether you take the one-year or the two-year route, and you have to decide that when you apply.

You pick one year or two when you apply, and cannot change

Chester runs a one-year route and a two-year route with a placement or project. An international applicant has to choose at the point of application, because the choice goes into the visa paperwork, and you cannot switch afterwards.

Please carefully consider your options when applying for our one year or Two-year routes

Most of the universities on this site let you decide later. Here the decision is made before you have seen the place, so it is worth being certain about the second year before you tick it.

Where Chester says so
What Chester does not publish about the placement

The two-year route is advertised. What happens if you do not secure a placement is not published anywhere we could find, so this page has no placement section rather than a guess at one. If you are choosing the two-year route, that is the question to put to Chester in writing first.

What it asks of you

Chester publishes an India page, and it sets one bar for three-year degrees and the same bar for engineering and medical ones.

55% to 65%, depending on your background and the course.
There is a published route without IELTS.
The academic requirement
3-year Bachelor’s Degree with 55%-65%, depending on your academic history and the course you are applying for.

A BE, BTech, MBBS or BDS is held to the same 55% to 65% band. The range is the whole answer Chester gives, so which end of it applies to you is a question for the course rather than something the page settles.

What a week looks like

Chester does something none of the other universities on this site does. It prints an actual number.

Ten other universities describe assessment as a list of methods that “may include” things. On its Advanced Computer Science masters, Chester says:

Assessment takes place using roughly 30% exams and 70% coursework, although the precise ratio depends on module choices.

So on that course you are looking at roughly a third exams. Read the caveat in Chester’s own sentence though, because it does the work: the ratio moves with your module choices, and this is one course rather than a university-wide policy.

And one course with no exams at all

Marketing Management MSc:

Assessment of your learning is 100% coursework. There are no exams. The coursework may include written assignments, marketing reports or other business-related formats, presentations, as well as completion of an individual marketing project.

What nobody publishes

  • What happens if a student on the 2-year route secures neither a professional placement nor a professional project, nothing published on any Chester page Checked and, and no dedicated placement-year policy page exists
  • Backlogs or arrears policy for Indian applicants, the word does not appear on the India country page or the international entry requirements page
  • Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter acceptance, not mentioned; the only test-free route published for India is 75% in Class XII English, with named boards and states excluded
  • A per-year figure for MA Art Therapy and MA Social Work, the university publishes £19,000 as a "full course fee" without stating the course length on the fee table
  • Whether the January and May intakes are available across PGT generally or only on the specific courses that list them
  • Campus latitude/longitude on a chester.ac.uk page, taken from Wikipedia coordinates instead
  • QS World University Rankings 2026 position, Chester is not in the 2026 table at all, so null means unranked, not unknown
  • WHAT HAPPENS IF NO PLACEMENT IS SECURED - NOT PUBLISHED ANYWHERE I COULD FIND. Chester's own words are only 'Students need to find and secure their own placement, supported by the University.' There is no stated guarantee, no stated fallback, no stated.
  • Campus renamed from "Parkgate Road" to "Exton Park" on 24 August 2026. The University of Chester renamed its Parkgate Road site Exton Park. Its own campuses page, read 24 August 2026, lists Exton Park and no Parkgate Road, so the file was carrying a name the university has stopped using and the same place was about to appear twice.

The official record

  • Student Sponsor - Track Record on the Student route. gov.uk, Register of licensed sponsors: students, as of 21 August 2026.
  • Approved (fee cap) with the Office for Students, degree-awarding powers since 2007. Office for Students, Register of English higher education providers, downloaded 24 August 2026.
  • 1 year, 2 years with placement are the published course lengths. Read off the course pages.
