Fees by intake

Your fee is set by your course. What is not in the figures below is the deposit, and at Kingston that is the number worth planning around.

SeptemberAll 12 courses below £17,600 to £21,500
January8 of 12 courses below £18,300 to £20,000
The £5,000 deposit, and what non-refundable means here

Kingston is explicit:

All postgraduate taught (masters) applicants excluding Masters by Research (MPhil/PhD) who require a Student Visa must pay a non-refundable deposit of £5,000

It counts towards your tuition, so it is not an extra charge on top of the fees above. What it is, is £5,000 paid before you have a visa, and not returned if the visa does not come or you change your mind.

For scale: BPP asks £350. That is not a reason to choose one over the other, but it is a difference of nearly five thousand pounds in what you have to find, and when.

The placement year

Kingston publishes the money half of this clearly, and on the fee it is one of the fairer universities here.

Placement year fees are charged separately and only apply if you secure a placement.

No placement, no placement fee. That puts Kingston with Northampton rather than with Sheffield Hallam, which charges its work experience fee whether or not a placement appears.

The placement year itself is priced separately at around £1,635 for a 2026-27 start, so it is a modest addition rather than a second year of tuition.

What Kingston does not publish is the academic consequence: whether you move to the one-year award, or do something else. Only the fee is answered.

What it asks of you

Kingston accepts a Medium of Instruction letter, with a condition Indian applicants should read twice.

A Medium of Instruction letter is accepted, conditionally.
IELTS 6.5 overall with nothing below 6.0 for most faculties.
English, and where the bar is higher

The standard is IELTS 6.5 overall with no element below 6.0. Kingston School of Art asks 6.5 with 5.5 in all elements, and its Journalism masters asks for 7.0.

So the requirement moves with the faculty rather than the university. Check your own course before you book a test date.

What a week looks like

Kingston prints the actual split on each course page, which almost nobody on this site does.

On MSc International Business Management, under “How you will be assessed”:

95% Coursework 5% Practical 0% Exam

Zero per cent exam, stated as a number rather than implied. The Professional Placement Year is listed separately at 100% coursework.

Only Westminster and Sheffield Hallam publish at this level of detail. It means you can read your own year off the course page before you apply, instead of discovering the balance in October.

Getting here is the honest weak point: no station adjoins the campus and there is no Underground at Kingston. The 3D map above is the better guide than any figure.

What nobody publishes

  • QS World University Rankings 2026 position - topuniversities.com currently publishes the 2027 edition only, which shows #=686
  • Backlogs or arrears policy for Indian applicants - Kingston publishes no India country page and no backlog policy anywhere
  • Whether an Indian institution meets Kingston's "academic recognition standards" for MOI acceptance - the standards themselves are not published
  • What happens ACADEMICALLY or to the two-year Student visa if a placement is not secured - only the fee consequence is published
  • Which specific PGT courses are taught at Penrhyn Road - course pages do not state a campus, so the fee range is university-wide rather than campus-specific
  • A Penrhyn-Road-specific fee range
  • Published walking distance or time from Kingston station to Penrhyn Road campus - the university gives street directions but no distance or duration

The official record

  • Student Sponsor - Track Record on the Student route. gov.uk, Register of licensed sponsors: students, as of 21 August 2026.
  • Approved (fee cap) with the Office for Students, degree-awarding powers since 1993. Office for Students, Register of English higher education providers, downloaded 24 August 2026.
  • 1 year, 2 years with placement, 2 years taught are the published course lengths. Read off the course pages.
