No course matches that.
Northampton is explicit about it, which most universities are not:
Work experience is useful but is not an essential MBA business entry requirement, so long as you can demonstrate a clear passion and interest in business and/or enterprise. The MBA page
Every fee, length and start month above was read off that course’s own page on 29 August 2026. Northampton teaches everything on one campus, so all eleven are at Waterside.
Your fee is set by your course. September carries the whole list and January most of it, with two courses each in February and June.
Northampton takes £500 off if you pay your tuition up front rather than in instalments.
The placement year costs £1,000, and the timing of that charge is the part worth knowing. Section below.
Northampton publishes only one consequence of a failed placement, and it is about money. On this one point it is more generous than most.
The placement fee amount will only be charged to you after you secure a placement and are enrolled on the work based project in year 2 of your course. You will not be charged this fee if you do not secure a work placement.
So the £1,000 is charged after you secure a placement, not when you enrol. No placement, no fee.
Set that against the others on this site and the difference is real. Leicester charges 15% of your tuition for the placement year whether or not it comes off. Sheffield Hallam says outright that its work experience fee is still charged if no placement is secured. Northampton does not charge you for something you did not get.
What Northampton does not publish is the academic consequence. Whether you transfer to the one-year award, or do an in-house project, or something else, is not stated anywhere we could find. Only the fee half of the question is answered.
northampton.ac.uk, the placement feeRead the first drawer before anything else on this page. It changes how you apply, not just whether you get in.
This is the university’s own rule, in its own words:
If you are a resident of China, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Vietnam or The Philippines, you MUST apply via the Principal Representative, or one of our recognised representatives in your country.
The capitals are Northampton’s. If you are applying from India you go through its Principal Representative or one of its recognised representatives, and an application you submit yourself is not the route.
Worth knowing what that means in practice: a representative is paid a commission by the university, so make sure you are comparing Northampton against other universities on the facts rather than on what an agent is incentivised to recommend. Every figure on this page comes from Northampton’s own pages, which is exactly why it is here.
Where Northampton states the ruleThe standard masters requirement is “IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in each other band”.
And then, unusually directly:
Proficiency letters will NOT be accepted.
A Medium of Instruction letter from your university does not work here. Several universities on this site accept one and Northampton says plainly that it does not, so do not spend time getting one for this application.
Nothing is published about backlogs or arrears. If it matters to your application, it is a question for the representative you are required to apply through.
Northampton publishes no split between coursework and exams, and we checked every one of its postgraduate course pages before saying so.
All 38 taught postgraduate pages were read and not one carries a numeric split. So the honest answer is that Northampton describes methods rather than ratios, and your own course page is where the description sits.
Education MA:
There are no exams for this Master of Education course. Instead, assessment is in the form of essays, portfolios, presentations and small-scale research projects. That course page
Getting here: Northampton station is only one mile, a 15-minute walk/10-minute cycle ride, to Waterside. Waterside is south of the river, so if a map puts the university in the town centre it is showing you the old campus.
